Children's Tile Craft

I made this at a weekly children's club I go to.  All you need is a blank white tile and stickers and glue and craft paper.  Everyone at the club made their own design.  These are very easy to do and you can make any design that your imagination chooses.

Embellishbox Papercutting colouring sheets

My mum has recently started Papercutting after she did a review on Embellishbox.  The owner kindly sent out some of her designs as colouring sheets so that i could join in with the fun with my mum. Here is one of the completed sheets I completed.  Here is the link to the Embellishbox:

The photo below shows my mum's paper cutting of the same design, 'Home Sweet Home'.

Owl Pincushion

I wanted to make a pincushion and saw some owl ones on the internet. I found a really easy tutorial to make these and followed the instructions to make this sparkly owl. I hope you like because I do. I did this with the sewing machine and also hand sewing.

Pom Pom Spider

I made this Pom Pom Spider at my Brownies club recently.  We made a pom pom the normal way using wool and cardboard circles. Then we attached some pipe cleaners underneath to make it look like 8 legs.  Then we stuck on some eyes onto the top of the pom pom. I think it looks like a cute spider.  Sorry I don't have any other photos but as I said I made this in a class not at home.

DIY Hot Glue Doll Shoes Tutorial

I saw a video tutorial recently showing someone make some doll shoes using hot glue and thought I would also have a go at making some for my dolls.

It is actually quite easy to do, thought they look a little thick but that is because I am not very skilled with a hot glue gun. I did this with some help from my mum.

Items needed:

  • Hot Glue
  • Cling Film
  • Nail Polish
  • Doll
  • Scissors

Step 1: Wrap some cling film around the dolls feet where you want the shoes to be.

Step 2: Then start applying hot glue all around the foot over the cling film.  Allow to dry.

Step 3: Remove carefully from the dolls foot, you may need to trim the edge a little with scissors.

Step 4: Place a stick or a pencil inside the shoe to make it easy to paint.  Paint the shoes in your choice of colour of nail polish.  Place the pencil into a glass jar shorter than the pencil, to balance the shoe to allow to dry.

Step 5: Once dry, trim any edges to make them look neat and place onto your doll.

DIY Wooden Necklace

At Forest School we were learning how to make our own wooden necklace. We had to find a good thick branch and using the saw we cut off a round piece. Then we had to pierce a hole through so we could attach string. We could then decorate the circle with a design if we wished.

Pokemon Go Cake and Cupcakes

I wanted to make a cake for my big brother as he was turning 18 and he likes Pokemon GO. I thought I would share with you some photos on my blog.

To make the large cake I used 2 chocolate cakes, different sizes and covered them in chocolate frosting and then covered them in coloured icing (red/white/black) making the design of Pokemon Go.  For the cupcakes I bought readymade cupcakes and covered in chocolate frosting and then coloured icing using same principal as the large cake.

Tissue Paper Flowers Tutorial

I have been busy making some really easy Tissue Paper Flowers at home and I thought I would share with you a tutorial to show how easily these are made.

Items needed:

  • 3 different coloured pieces of tissue paper.
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Scissors

Step 1:  Cut out 3 squares, one from each colour and all the same size.
Step 2: Place the 3 squares on top of each other
Step 3: Fold the paper concertina style like a fan.
Step 4: Once folded place a pipe cleaner on top in the middle as shown and fold over and secure by twisting pipe cleaner on itself as shown.
Step 5: slowly and carefully pull the tissue away from the colour touching and spread out like a flower.
Step 6: Repeat this if you wish to make a bouquet of paper flowers.

Doll Cake

Today I helped make a doll cake with my mum. My mum helped make the layers of the cake to make the shape of the dress and I made the dress out of icing. We watched a few youtube videos to get an idea of how to do the cakes.  We didn't take any photos this time but we might try and do another one again and remember to take photos.

This month I went on a Homeschool History trip to the Oriental Museum in Durham. We had a lot of fun learning about China's past and looking at Museum objects. We even got to take part in a Chinese Dragon Dance. Afterwards we got to do some crafts and I made a Monkey puppet. Here are some photos from the day.

Play Doh Burger

I have been spending some time playing with my play doh and making some star designs and I then made a mini burger. It is hard to see the size, I took a photograph next to a knife so you can see how small it is.

Loom Band Bracelet and Ring

I have made loom band jewellery before but started making some more recently. I started going to a new craft class which is mainly for adults but children can come along. My friend also comes along with his mum and we take our loom bands with us and make things at the group.

Below is a photograph of me and my friend with our loom bands.

Ramadan Wreath Tutorial

I decided this year to make a Ramadan Wreath. We haven't made one of those for Ramadan before so it was nice to do something different.

  • Craft Ring (purchased form craft store)
  • Fabric scraps (cut into rectangles)
  • Cardboard sheet (we used a cereal box)
  • Printout or handwritten Ramadan Mubarak Sign

Step 1: Cut out a tester strip of fabric and tie around in a loose knot, making sure the size is adequate. Then use the correct size needed as a template and cut out many more strips. You can use different fabrics if you wish. (We used a patterned piece of fabric from an old duvet cover)

Step 2: Tie all the pieces of fabric around the ring, spreading around evenly as possible.

Step 3: Cut out a piece of cardboard the same size as the craft ring.

Step 4: Print out the words Ramadan Mubarak or hand write them onto some paper. Then place onto the cardboard.  Puncture 4 holes into the cardboard. Then using scrap fabric attach to the fabric ring. Also use some scrap fabric to make a loop at the top to hang it up.

Once done you can hang this up for decoration. I think it would look batter with a bolder brighter text than I have used. If I do this again I would spend more time making the words Ramadan Mubarak look better.
